In olden days, the monks who want to study in foreign Universities such as India and Srilankar, had to spend a lot of money for education expenses. Now in modernized Myanmar where Buddha-Sasana has flourished unprecedentedly, as there are a lot of universities teaching Buddhist scripture in the most advanced in methods, they do not need to go to abroad for further studies. Foreign Universities excellent in teaching English, but they comparatively weak in teaching Buddhism. If Myanmar Buddhist Monk strive hard to be skillful in English language, they can be come the most capable persons in propagation of Buddha-Sasana. So it is very important for Myanmar monks to strive for achieving excellence both in teaching Buddhist scriptures and in teaching English.
Sayargyi U Myint Swe with whom I have acquainted for a longtime is masterly not only in studies of Buddhist scriptures but also in teaching Sanskrit, Philology and English language. His methods of teaching Pali, Sanskrit, Buddhist scripture and English are somewhat unique. Especially his teaching of Pali and Sanskrit in comparison enables scholar monks to be skilful in Pali within relatively shorter period. This teaching method of European Universities is more excellent than that of universities in India and Sri Lankar. Most of the monks influenced bu old method of teaching Pali would reproach U Myint Swe's methods unless they have opportunity to study it thoroughly . As the monks who become proficient in Pali by new methods applied in Mandalay Priyatti University for 17 years and in this Buddhist University for 9 years , emerge more and more, this method of teaching becomes more popular in teaching Buddhist Scriptures.
Now, a monk who had once been a pupil of U Myint Swe become a lecturer at the International Theravada Buddhist Missionary University and has been teaching Pali by the latter's new methods, foreign students can learn Buddhist scripture easily and become skilful in Pali in a veryod. short time. So they are satisfied with this method . Thus, I would like to suggest Buddhist Scholars to strive for achievemet of ultimate goal of worldwide Propagation of Buddha-Sasana by learning and teaching with modernized method of U Myint Swe and devote your lives wholeheartedly for the glorious cause of Universal Propagation of Buddha-Sasana.
